BIS secondary school curriculum is based on the Cambridge lower secondary curriculum:

and IGSCE curriculum for upper secondary:

Our aim as an international school is to prepare our students for global citizenship making them more knowledgeable, independent and confident. BIS draws on the strength of a global network that provides every student access to unique academic opportunities and build connections within our worldwide family of students and teachers.

The Cambridge lower secondary curriculum like the Primary curriculum only covers the subjects English, Mathematics and Science. Other subjects taught in our lower secondary  focuses on the National Curriculum of England and these subjects have been adapted to suit our international learners.

The secondary school curriculum builds on the students previous learning and knowledge in primary school. Students in lower secondary are prepared for the Cambridge lower secondary checkpoint exams which lays the foundation for success at IGSCE. Students in our Lower secondary are encouraged to choose their IGSCE options in Year 9.

The Cambridge program consists of subject content, planning and resource guides, guidance for curriculum implementation and development, and support for classroom teaching and student learning. Again, as a programme developed with consistent standards that are externally benchmarked across thousands of students, it enables reliable structured reporting to parents about the performance of their children, which has validity beyond the school. It also enables the school to ensure that students are properly prepared for the demands of the IGCSE courses in these subjects.

Learning in our secondary school does not end only in the classroom but is extended beyond the classroom. Our students are encouraged to engage in critical thinking, active learning, team work, communication skills through participation in the school council, field trips and international excursions.

To further support our upper secondary program for students in Year 10, BIS works with Wolsey Hall Oxford to introduce the students to a wide range of subjects and independent study which encourages them to learn and think for themselves.  Our team of specialist teachers are also on the ground to provide extra support by ensuring that the students are following their schedules.

In addition to improving the academic skills of our students, they are also encouraged to cultivate a thirst for knowledge and love for learning.  Students are guided by our dedicated staff through their learning journey at BIS while also placing importance on the emotional well-being of the students.

Students are further supported in their studies using online learning platforms such as, IXL,  Literacy Planet and  Gooseberry planet which provides an avenue for online safety while homework can be accessed from the Show My Home Work online platform.

Our program also includes Physical Education and Music and Movement. Our aim is provide the students with a balanced curriculum that leads to development of skills and understanding to help them prepare for lifelong participation in sport and physical activity whilst cultivating a positive learning state and as well as inspiration and motivation.
